More about me and my family

I am a native central New Yorker growing up in and around the Finger Lakes my whole life. My mother still lives in Ovid NY on Seneca Lake. I was in Scouts as a youth and earned the Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouts and attained the rank of Life in Boy Scouts. I was also in the Order of the Arrow and was awarded the Vigil honor as well as serving as Lodge Chief and a Section Chief. I enjoyed my time in Scouts as a youth and feel every youth should have the chance as well.

After I graduated high school, I was not involved with Scouts for a little while, but I was busy. I served four years in the U.S. Army, attended Infantry, Paratrooper, and Ranger Schools, spent a year in Korea, and I am a Gulf war veteran. I am married to a wonderful woman (Chandra). Chandra works for the New York State Department of Transportation in Rochester, NY. She has worked for the state in different departments for over 20 years. We have two sons Robert (34) and Nicholas (30). Robert is a freelance chef for many restaurants and private parties and lives in the New Paultz, NY area. Nicholas is a School bus driver for Brockport Central Schools and is married to Madi with a ten month old son (Theodore) of his own. Yep, I am a Grandfather and it is wonderful.

I attended college at Finger Lakes Community College and earned an AAS degree in Human Services. I have had several jobs over the years, one as the general manager of a photo lab and portrait studio. My last job before joining the profession, was as an after-school program coordinator for Waterloo Central School.

When Robert, my oldest son, was old enough to join Cub Scouts, so did I. I was a Den leader, Webelos leader, Cubmaster, Asst. Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisor, Chapter adviser for the Order of the Arrow, and served as Director of Camp Babcock-Hovey. I feel that training is important for adults, so I have attended Wood Badge, Powder Horn, and National OA Lodge Advisor Training.

In 2008 an opportunity to become a Professional Scout was presented to me and I took it. I served one year as the District Executive for Seneca District in Finger Lakes Council, as well as the Camp Director for Camp Babcock-Hovey. Then two more years for Seneca District and Camp Babcock-Hovey, with Seneca Waterways Council in Rochester, NY after a merger. I then was promoted to Field Director and served in that position for three more years. I also had the honor of serving as the Reservations Director for Massawepie Scout Reservation for two years. I served as the Staff Advisor for NE-3A Section of the Order of the Arrow, from 2012 to 2016 as well.

In 2016, I took a position as the Director of Support Services in the Westchester-Putnam Council in White Plains, NY. My responsibilities included day to day operations of the Council service center, overseeing the two camp properties, and serving as the Reservation Director for Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation. I also served as the Staff Advisor for NE-2B Section of the Order of the Arrow. I left this position in May of 2018.

In October of 2018, I became the Assistant Scout Executive of Longhouse Council in Syracuse, NY. My responsibilities include day to day operations of the Council’s field service, program, and camp properties.

My family is also very involved in Scouting as well. Both of my sons are Eagle Scouts, Nicholas has served on NYLT staff, Robert has been a Vice Chief in the OA lodge, both have attended NOAC (Robert three times as a youth) and both have worked on staff at Babcock-Hovey. My wife has served in many volunteer positions as well and supports me at many functions still.
